The first
topic that I want to touch will be
about St. Valentine's Day! Holidays is an
integral part of each culture . In Kazakhstan this holiday is celebrated on the
15th of April under the title "Ұлттық ғашықтар күніне орай", which is translated from Kazakh « Valentine's Day» . In England this holiday is celebrated on
February 14, as in most countries. Тhis beautiful holiday partly unites our culture.
But every
country has its own history of this holiday.
In England there
is a legend of the origin of this holiday. One legend says that Valentine was a
priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II
decided that single men made better soldiers than those married, he outlawed
marriage for young men.
Valentine,
realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform
marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered,
Claudius ordered that he will be put to death. And Valentine’s Day is
celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of
Valentine’s death, which probably occurred around 270 A.D.
And in
Kazakhstan, the celebration of this holiday is connected with the legend about
the Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu. It can be said the new holiday , as it was
approved recently and is connected concerning the propaganda of national
holidays and traditions.
An ancient
legend about tragic love Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan- Sulu says: some
friends from childhood Sarybai and Karabai vowed to marry their children, which
even before the appearance of the light betrothed. Without waiting for the
birth of a son, died during the hunting Sarybai. The young Goats and Bayan,
still not seeing each other, but connected by ties of marriage contract,
finally, fell in love with each other. Time passes and treacherous Karabai
changes the life plans. He promises to give his daughter to the local Kodara , who saved one of his flock from
jute. Kodar becomes a barrier between
the lovers. In this eternal triangle of the first folded the wild Kozy's head.
Disappointed Bayan, to take revenge on
the murderer, resorted to a trick. She promises to marry Kodar , if he has dug
out for her well with spring water. Kodar
goes to work, all venturing, clutching his hair insidious Bayan. The
girl suddenly cuts off the spit: Kodar falls into the abyss, and dies. On his grave
character of the legend stabs himself with a dagger.
Tragically
beautiful story of love and death of young men and girls from one of the
greatest epics of nomads was immortalized in many of the classic works. This
holiday is not so common among us , but I think that it will change.
There are
histories of the origin of Valentine's Day and the Day
of the Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu. But I think that counsel one and we can
just call it the Day of Lovers. Just in every country and every culture it is
celebrated on his own!
P.S.
Interesting
facts about Valentine’s Day :
•Valentine’s Day
is the second largest card-sending holiday of the year (after Christmas).

85 percent of all valentines are purchased by women.
